My Story

I have been babywearing and breastfeeding since my first son was born in 2008. I have worn all three of my children from infancy through toddlerhood and beyond. I am a Certified Babywearing Educator through The Babywearing Institute (certified May 2013).

In my breastfeeding journey I have personally battled varying degrees of tongue and lip ties with all 3 of my children, nipple confusion, nipple shields, mastitis, plugged ducts, oversupply and overactive let down, sucking issues, and several other breastfeeding problems. These issues are the reason why I wanted to become a lactation consultant. I wanted to help mothers and families avoid or more easily work through many of the issues that I went through myself. I have had the opportunities to educate myself further in tongue and lip ties and continually seek out more information so that I can specialize in infant sucking issues.  As an Lactation Educator, a volunteer breastfeeding supporter, and an IBCLC, I have had the opportunity to help hundreds of mothers through breastfeeding difficulties and be a support through normal breastfeeding concerns and expectations.  I provide non-judgmental support and help you meet YOUR breastfeeding goals.

I am an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, RLC (Registered Lactation Consultant.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from Weber State University (I completed two years of American Sign Language to fulfill the extra requirements to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree) in Ogden, UT and began a babywearing group there when my oldest son was a young toddler.  I began Corvallis Babywearers in Oregon when I saw parents wearing against manufacturer's guidelines and in an unsafe manner.  I listened to many local parents tell me about their experiences. I learned that most didn't know other options for carriers even existed besides the two options that were sold at the local baby shop!  After being on a tight budget myself and having to make babywearing work on such a small budget I knew there was a need in the community to offer a lending library so parents could try out other carriers.  Corvallis Babywearers was established May 26, 2012.  After my husband received his PhD from Oregon State University, our family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2015. In Oklahoma City, I prepared for and certified as an IBCLC. I have enjoyed assisting many mothers in the metro area prepare for and breastfeed their babies.

I am a HEART birth professional.
